Inclined infant sleep products banned today
Inclined infant sleep products have been banned after being implicated in multiple infant deaths overseas.
Inclined infant sleep products, which have been attributed to at least 73 deaths in the United States, have today been banned in New Zealand.
An Unsafe Goods Notice published in the New Zealand Gazette means that it is now illegal to import or sell certain inclined infant sleep products in New Zealand.
These products carry the risk of suffocation and go against safe sleep guidelines, which advise that infants should always sleep on their back, on a firm and flat mattress.
For more information on the Unsafe Goods Notice and what products it applies to, see our Inclined infant sleep products page.
